Lot 87 : Taxidermy Freak : Double Daisy the Two-Headed Cow
We sold this lot for £2,300 in October 2012

a Victorian 2 headed calf presented in a large glazed wooden case. She was calved in 1875 in Sutton Montis, Somerset. Her early life was with a travelling fairground freak show. The case used to have a pair of doors on the front to protect the glass whilst travelling, and to protect the ladies from fainting! When the show ceased travelling, she was bought by a private museum and some years later transferred to the Rural Life Museum at Cricket St Thomas, Somerset, where she resided for over ten years. When the museum closed in 1990, she was purchased by the present vendors. In excellent condition and an exceptionally rare opportunity. We sold this for £1300 in March 2012; unfortunately the wife of the Gentleman buyer would not let him bring it into the house and so he has reluctantly had to offer it up for sale again.
