Lot 224 : Extremely Rare Early Wall Machine by Pessers, Moody, Wraith & Gurr
We sold this lot for £2,500 in November 2015

looks at first glance like any other interesting early 'catcher' type wall machine, but there is more to it than that! - With this machine you don't actually catch the ball as such in the moving goblet-shaped cup, but rather there is a trigger hidden behind the cup that the ball hits which then causes payout of a token from a spring-loaded mechanism. To achieve this the entire payout mechanism swings from side to side along with the cup. Believed to be the only surviving example of this machine, and we're not sure of it's proper name. Restored to full working order, with keys and some original payout tokens.
